Keep the property as clean as possible, use light and bright colors for accents, and most importantly, get rid of the clutter! Personal photographs and mementos are very important to you, but they are very distracting to potential buyers. Try to create a “blank slate” for them to picture where they would place their own belongings. • Let the sun shine in! Open draperies, curtains and blinds and let the buyers see that your house is bright and cheerful. Dark rooms are unappealing. • Fix that faucet! Dripping water suggests faulty plumbing. • Fix that ceiling! Stained and damaged ceilings suggest faulty plumbing and/or leaking roofs.

Many buyers believe there are ten problems hiding for every one they’re able to see. • From top to bottom. Display the full value of your attic and other utility space by removing all unnecessary articles. • Safety first! Keep all stairways clean. Avoid cluttered appearances and possible injuries. • Make closets look bigger! Orderly closets show that space is ample. • Bathrooms and Kitchens help sell homes! Check and repair caulking around sinks and showers. Make them sparkle! Keep surfaces as clutter-free as possible. • Arrange bedrooms neatly! Remove excess furniture. Use attractive bedspreads and freshly laundered curtains. Put private memorabilia away. • All lights on, day/night! Harmonize the elements – FM radio on softly, TV off!
