Marblehead, MA is a picturesque seacoast town steeped in history. It
is situated 18 miles northeast of Boston, bordered by Swampscott,
Salem and the Atlantic Ocean. In its early years, fishing and the
shoe industry were Marblehead's two main sources of income. Today,
Marblehead is mainly a residential community of 20,377 residents
with some minor industry and a few unique retail stores. Marblehead
was known in the past as the "Birthplace of the American Navy," but
today is known as one of the yachting capitals of the world.
Pleasure boating is a popular pastime of its residents, and visitors
come from all over the world to see the beautiful harbor crowded
with sailing, fishing, and lobster and pleasure boats.
